FAQ

What is the PTN?

PTN stands for Parent Teacher Network. It is comprised of the parents & teachers of the children attending our school.

What is the goal of PTN?

The purpose of the group is to provide a community of parent volunteers who support the work of teachers and staff in the following areas: educational programs, enrichment activities, and fund-raising to support enrichment programs for the school community. The Parent Teacher Groups also support teachers & administrators in their efforts to provide the best services possible for our children.

What is the structure of the group?

The EDUPRIZE program is run by committees. Volunteers for positions on committees are recruited via newsletter requests as well as by a yearly Family Registration Form. Communication is done by weekly newsletter & regular e-mails by the PTN President who also helps to facilitate the EDUPRIZE Parent Group Programs.

How is money earned?

Each year the PTN surveys the parents and teachers to determine which types of fundraising will be done during the following year. This year the six major fundraisers are the following:

Golf Tournament
Spring Spectacular Basket Raffle
Family Fun Night
Read-a-thon
Holiday Boutique
The Goodies Factory

In addition to event fundraisers, we have several ongoing programs that we use to raise funds. They are:

Box Tops for Education
Campbell's Soup Labels
Inkjet Cartridge Recycling
Fry's Cool Cash
Harkins Theatres Souvenir Cup Sales
Harkins Theatres Summer Movie Passes
Nestle Pure Life Water Labels
Scholastic Book & Monthly Sales
Wal-Mart Bag Recycling
T-Shirt & Visor Sales

How is the money spent?

A yearly survey is conducted to determine where the teachers and parents would like to see the funds dispersed. Large items for improvement of the campus are prioritized on a Wish List and purchased when funding allows.

What else does PTN provide for the school?

In addition to purchasing large ticket items for the school (shade structures, misting systems, etc.) PTN also provides the following:

Assemblies and Special Performances (such as Childsplay productions)
Design and sale of school t-shirts
Fall and Spring Student Portraits
Scholastic Book program
Funding for teachers to purchase supplies
Augments funding for field trips
Helps arrange carpools
Provides weekly communication
Hosts events such as ice cream socials, carnivals, etc.
Funds Spelling and Geography bees
Provides the Art Masterpiece program

How can I support the PTN?

The best way to support the PTN is to take advantage of the many volunteer opportunities that we have to offer. While it is extremely important to volunteer in the classroom, we also need volunteers on our school-wide committees for our group to be successful. Look for volunteer opportunities to be published in the newsletter.

How can I contact the PTN?

The best way to contact the PTN is via email at info@eduprizeptnqc.info. You may also leave information at the front desk and ask that it be put in the PTN mailbox. We welcome your input and suggestions anytime!
